Here's the video of the reception for my last show. It's a little over nine minutes. I am interviewed at the end of it. I'm a bit self conscious about my part in it but I thought I'd share anyway...
If anything, I like that it feels like I am including you in the reception and making you a part of it.

A showcase of 12 diverse artists in a fun, family-friendly environment. The artists invited to exhibit at this salon represent a cross section of contemporary styles that bring distinct artistic voices to easily accessible imagery.

The show was great! The reception had a nice turnout and I enjoyed myself. I was interviewed twice – by a local newspaper and a video interview as well. I also met some interesting people, sold some small trinkets to a woman who lives in France, was invited to be a part of two shows next year and made a few new acquaintances. It was a great experience overall.

Every year Visual Aid, a non profit organization that supports artists with AIDS and other life-threatening illnesses, gives an art show and benefit fundraiser. For an annual fixed-price ($160 per artwork) this first come, first served monster art sale, plus an auction of art by well-known artists is an event that is well attended. Plus there’s food, drink, tunes, entertainment, spin the wheel, and much more. People wait in line for hours (some even overnight) for first crack at their favorite fixed-price art. Whether you buy art or not ($45 if you only wanna party), Big Deal is one of San Francisco's best and most popular art fundraising events.
Programs sponsored by Visual Aid include an ArtBank and Voucher Program for free art supplies, exhibition opportunities, career services, image archives, workshops, and lecture series.

My latest show was Open Studios – an annual event held each year in San Francisco offering opportunities for more than 700 artists to open their doors to the public.

The weekend of October 19-21 I exhibited my work at the 1890 Bryant Street Studios as a guest of Cynthia Tom. She’s an artist I have run into many times over the years because we run in similar circles and have common connections through mutual friends. This woman has a 1500 square ft. space. It was amazing! The place was so nice! There were all of these cool pieces of antique furniture in there – couches and loveseats, desk chairs from the 50’s, little 1940’s ottomans… She also makes chandeliers so the room had about 4 chandeliers hanging from the ceiling. The building was pretty impressive too with its huge hallways and floor to ceiling doors for each studio space. I ran into a few artists whom I totally admire and respect. It was nice to see that the respect is mutual.
It was a great weekend.

San Francisco Open Studios has provided the public with an opportunity to see artists in their workspaces. As the largest and first open studios program in the country, San Francisco Open Studios showcases artists without judgment and invites art lovers to make friends and start or build their art collections.

Private Preview Gala
SF Open Studios kicks off with the Private Preview Gala on Saturday, October 6th in the SomArts Gallery. It's your exclusive first chance to view and purchase over 500 works of art made by SF Open Studios artists.
VIP Reception 6:30pm - 8:00 pm: VIP patrons enjoy first dibs on the amazing art, free parking, open bar with specialty drinks, delectable hors d'oeuvres, artistic party favors, and a festive art demonstration. Mingle and check out the art while listening to the music of the Jazz Cats and DJ Nathan Moomaw of Fallout and DJ EmDee of Club Neon.
Main Party 8:00pm - 10:00pm: Don't miss your chance to peruse the exhibition, mingle with artists and art enthusiasts, or bid on the premium packages available in the live auction. Open bar.
After Party 10:00pm - midnight: The gala transforms for those who enjoy heavy beats with their art. Cash bar and snacks will keep you dancing.

I am a part of the Honorary Host Committee for this event. It is a great evening for entertainment and exposure to art and artists in San Francisco.
